Brown Sugar Fudge

I take a lot of pictures of butter. It’s a little weird, I guess. I probably have a picture of butter in every post. Butter never really changes..sometimes I cut it into cubes or melt it..but it’s still butter.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Red velvet. The “little black dress” of the dessert world. Almost everything that involves cake comes in red velvet, from cupcakes to whoopie pies, even cookies.
The southern cake features a hint of cocoa and an abundance of red dye. They can be colored with beets or other foods but are generally tinted red with food coloring. The classic frosting choice is cream cheese, but I added a dash of cinnamon to it to spice them up a little bit.

Peppermint Patty Brownie Cupcakes

The heat is still pretty bad in Philadelphia. It’s getting better but it’ll still melt my buttercream. I needed a cupcake that I could transport with me that would be fine being outside for a bit. Gross Airport Chocolate Cake (San Francisco)

I saw some cake in the airport in San Francisco and thought it’d be interesting to try.
It tasted like stale box mix cake with icing that was left on a shelf unsealed and then they pressed some chocolate onto the side.
Just because it looks good doesn’t mean it tastes good.

Cupcakes in Chicago (Chicago)
I’m in Chicago until Friday (then I leave for San Francisco) and was super excited to grab some delicious cupcakes. I’ve had a few bakeries recommended to me and I tried out a bunch so far.
I wanted to get a picture for this post that really summed up the essence of Chicago…so I took a (bad) picture of this wall that said “Chicago” on it.
Click “Read More” for all the pictures and the write up.
