Tim Hortons (Canada)
Tim Horton’s is one of my favorite things about Canada. There are a couple in the states but not by me. They are kind of like Dunkin’ Donuts (coffee and doughnuts) but they offer a bit more and it tastes much better.

I went in for breakfast and I was going to get a vanilla doughnut but I saw this chocolate danish, something I had never seen before (maybe I’ve been living under a rock and they’re everywhere, but it was new to me). I had to get it. It was super chocolatey with flakey crust, kind of dry but it was about $1.50, no complaints here.
Right now I’m off to Chicago for four days, they just opened up a Sprinkles location there a couple weeks ago and I have been dying to try it, I will make sure to make a big post devoted to them! I have five or six flavors on my list to try.

Self-Frosting Nutella Cupcakes
I’m leaving today for Toronto. I have a 10 (or more) hour bus trip up there, it was only $5 so that makes the long trip worth it. I went up in March for my first time and loved it, I stayed with a friend and brought her cupcakes to pay her back for letting me crash on her floor. She loved them so I’m bringing her more, this time they are self-frosting nutella cupcakes!

Shady Maple Whoopie Pies (Philadelphia)
**NOTE: I’m on vacation from August 5th to the 16th to Toronto, Chicago, and San Francisco. I will still try to put up some recipes but I might not be able to bake while I’m gone. I’ll be making posts about the different bakeries I visit though!**
A couple friends and I went out to East Earl, PA to a place called Shady Maple. It is a big buffet, a farm market, and has a banquet hall. We drove through suburban Pennsylvania and through the countryside. It’s out by Lancaster.

It was $20 to get in the buffet and barely anything was vegetarian so I decided to just skip eating and go in free. However, they had a little stand with baked goods and I have heard good things about their whoopie pies.

They are a good price and are pretty big. They are super soft and moist with a creamy center. They have a perfect frosting to pie ratio. I picked up a couple more to bring back to the city.

Cream Cheese Brownies
I’m not a big fan of cream cheese. I’m really not. I like it sometimes, on bagels mostly, but also on brownies. When I lived in the dorms of my college about a year and a half ago, I was hanging out with one of my friends and she was making brownies and I said “add some cream cheese” and she looked at me like I was absolutely insane. She didn’t believe that you could add cream cheese to brownies, she thought it would taste disgusting, and every time she sees me she brings up cream cheese brownies. I made them with her after that, I think she enjoyed them. I ate half the pan.

These are really chocolatey. I am not joking, they have a TON of melted chocolate and chocolate chips in them. They also have half a dozen eggs.
